Description

With the Severne Hydro Foil Race Board, you get an uncompromisingly speed-oriented windsurf foil board for all foil racing disciplines. The hull and outline are uncompromisingly trimmed for minimal drag: a convex deck, deep cutaways, and an ultra-low mast track ensure early take-off, clean touchdowns, and stable flight behavior with "autopilot" control. This makes the Hydro the right choice for you if you want to compete at the front in foil racing or foil slalom.

Why this product is right for you

  • Aerodynamic shape concept for minimized air resistance and high top speed on the foil
  • Convex deck stabilizes the board in flight and provides an autopilot-like feel
  • Deep, recessed cutaways with a second step for early take-off and low drag during touchdowns
  • Ultra-low mast track reduces the lever between the sail's center of effort and the foil for more forward drive
  • High rails provide more leverage and righting moment when planing
  • Tail bump on the deck gives you a sense of balance when foot-strapped and foot support when pumping in light wind
  • Ergonomic pads and variable footstrap inserts reduce fatigue and allow for a custom setup
  • Deep Tuttle foil box for standard race and freerace foils

Suitable for

  • Foil racers and regatta riders looking for maximum speed
  • Foil slalom riders with off-the-wind courses
  • Advanced windsurfers with foil experience
  • Light wind sessions with a large sail on the Hydro 100
  • Strong wind conditions with a smaller sail, e.g., Hydro 79
  • Riders who want to fine-tune their setup using footstrap and mast track positions
  • Windsurfers looking for an early-planing foil racer for Formula and Slalom foil setups

Details and specifications

The Hydro is manufactured using Compression Molded Technology (CMC) and is available in three sizes: Hydro 79, Hydro 91, and Hydro 100. All versions share the drag-minimized outline, convex deck, deep cutaways with a second step, ultra-low mast track, and Deep Tuttle foil box. Sail and weight recommendations vary by size.

  • Technology: Compression Molded Technology (CMC)
  • Foil box: Deep Tuttle foil box
  • Hydro 79: 176 liters, 79 cm wide, 220 cm long, 15.4 cm thick, approx. 10.3 kg, sail 5.0–8.0 (HyperGlide 5.0–8.0), rider recommendation Adrien Mestre in strong wind
  • Hydro 91: 208 liters, 91 cm wide, 220 cm long, 16.5 cm thick, approx. 11.33 kg, sail 7.0–9.0 (HyperGlide 7.0–9.0)
  • Hydro 100: 208 liters, 100 cm wide, 218.5 cm long, 16.2 cm thick, sail 8.0–10.0, for upwind and downwind racing with an extra-wide tail
  • Scope of delivery: Board without fin/foil

Specifications

The Severne Hydro is a foil race board designed for maximum speed and control in all foil racing disciplines. The design aims for minimal drag: a flat deck promotes laminar airflow, an extremely deep mast track reduces the leverage between sail and foil, and deep cutaways with secondary steps ensure clean take-offs and minimized drag during touchdowns.

FAQ

FAQ

What is the Severne Hydro designed for?

The Hydro is a foil race board for all foil racing disciplines and high-speed foil slalom courses. It is designed for minimal drag and maximum flight stability, not for classic wave riding or freestyle.

Which size is suitable for which wind range?

The Hydro 100 is designed as an upwind/downwind machine with sails from 8.0 to 10.0. The Hydro 91 covers sails from 7.0 to 9.0, while the Hydro 79 is ridden with sails from 5.0 to 8.0 and in more wind.

Which sails work on the Hydro 79?

According to Severne, HyperGlide sails from 5.0 to 8.0 are a very good fit, as are Freerace sails. This places the Hydro 79 in the range for stronger wind and smaller sails.

What foil box does the Hydro have?

All Hydro boards are equipped with a Deep Tuttle foil box, with which you can ride common race and freerace foils.

How do I set the mast track correctly?

Start in the middle and move the mast track in 1 cm steps forward or backward until the board feels balanced at top speed. The optimal position depends on your foil and rig setup.

Where should the foot straps be mounted?

Start with the middle holes. For more lift, move the straps individually backward; for more weight, move them forward. On the back strap, you can choose between an outboard setup for performance and an inboard setup for more control.

Is the board suitable for beginners?

The Hydro is a race board and is aimed at advanced windsurfers with foil experience. There are better-suited board concepts for getting started with foiling.

Does the Hydro come with a fin or foil?

The board is delivered without a fin or foil. You need a suitable Deep Tuttle-compatible foil to ride it.
