Kitesurfing is the new trend sport on the water and offers unprecedented opportunities for both beginners and experienced windsurfers. As old windsurfing hands, we have remained true to our passion for kiting and are primarily found at wave spots. Accordingly, you will find not only beginner-friendly boards and kites for your kite equipment, but also the perfect toy for the waves.
Experience Kitesurfing on a New Level
The key to a successful kitesurfing session lies in choosing the right equipment. Different wind conditions and individual preferences require tailor-made equipment that optimally adapts to your needs.
Tips for Beginners
- Delta and Hybrid Kites: Particularly beginner-friendly as they fly stably and are easy to control.
- Larger Twintip Boards: Ideal for an easy start, as they offer more stability and better upwind performance.
- Safety Equipment: Modern quick-release systems and safety leashes ensure maximum safety.
Recommendations for Advanced and Professionals
- Freestyle or C-Kites: These models offer direct steering and high jumping power for spectacular tricks.
- Wave Kites: Perfect for wave riders who need maximum control and stability.
- Compact Twintips or Directional Boards: Offer maneuverability and precision for fast maneuvers and tricks.
Why Modern Equipment Makes a Difference
- Larger Wind Range: Many kites today cover multiple wind ranges, so you need less equipment.
- Easy Control: All-round kites offer stable flight characteristics and are easy to relaunch – perfect for beginners and advanced riders.
- Lightweight Constructions: New materials make the equipment easier to transport and handle.
Important Points When Choosing Equipment
- Kite Size: For most beginners, kites between 9 and 12 square meters are optimal, as they are versatile.
- Twintip Boards: Larger boards offer more stability, while smaller models allow advanced riders more control.
- Bars and Lines: Modern bars adapt to different kites and offer a high level of safety thanks to quick-release systems.
With the right equipment from Surfshop Fehmarn, you can unleash the full potential of kitesurfing – whether you are just starting out or want to make your next jump towards a professional level.

In contrast to windsurfing, the material can be packed very small and compact, and assembled and disassembled easily and quickly. For kiting, you naturally need a kite with the corresponding bar and a pump for set-up. All of this can ideally be attached to the kite backpack. In addition, we need a kiteboard, which can be a twintip, directional, or bidirectional board, entirely according to your taste. Wetsuit and harness are self-explanatory, but kitesurfers cannot go on the water without a safety leash on their harness, as it is their life insurance in an emergency.
Another advantage of kiting is that you can cover a larger wind range with one kite, thus requiring less material. Many manufacturers have coordinated their kites and bars so that you can fly all kites of that brand with one bar, meaning one bar would be sufficient. And development continues to progress.
Not only men, but of course also women, will find what they are looking for with us, including wetsuits and kite harnesses, but also smaller kiteboards and footpads with straps, as well as bars with a shortened depower throw, as women usually have slightly shorter arms than men. We have the right material for everyone, whether man or woman, beginner or advanced.
