Description

The Step 1 (S1) foil range redefines how we learn to foil, offering remarkable stability, ultra-low flying speed, and an instantly intuitive feel to make that first step into foiling as easy and forgiving as possible. Pitch, roll, and yaw stability are critical to success in building foiling skills, and the S1 design achieves a near autopilot level of predictability thanks to a combination of leading and trailing edge curvature, chord length, and foil section geometry. The result is an ultra-easy platform for first-time flyers to learn any foil discipline. S1 foils fly at remarkably low speeds with high levels of controllability, allowing riders to practice maneuvers with less risk and a shorter learning curve. When overloaded, the foil reduces breaching and tends to fly back down when approaching the surface. Since these foils handle speed and ventilation so well, riders of any size can enjoy an exceptionally wide usable speed range. Downward curving wingtips provide an extra element of safety. The kit consists of a 72cm Aluminum Mast, a 75cm Aluminum Fuselage, an S1 300 Stabilizer, and a kit bag. Details An ultra-easy platform for first-time flyers to learn all foil disciplines. Excellent low-speed lift, stability, and ventilation recovery. The curvature of the leading and trailing edges provides stability and a narrower span to minimize breaches. Downward curving wingtips enhance rider safety and improve water flow efficiency. Armstrong A+ System’s proprietary foil connection design provides industry-leading stiffness, durability, and modularity. The S1 300 stabilizer was developed alongside the S1 foils to provide riders with the best possible learning platform. Specifications S1 Front Foil Sizes: 1250, 1550, 1850, 2450 cm2 Kit paired with: 72cm Aluminum Mast, 75cm Aluminum Fuselage, S1 300 Stabilizer, Kit Bag

FAQ

FAQ

Who is the Armstrong S1 Alloy Foil Kit suitable for?

The S1 Alloy Foil Kit is Armstrong Foils' entry-level and learning platform and is aimed at beginners as well as advanced riders who want to learn wing foiling, surf foiling, SUP foiling or kite foiling, or complete their first sessions safely. Thanks to the combination of front and rear edge curvature, chord length and foil section geometry, it offers an autopilot-like level of predictability, an extremely low flight speed and high controllability.

What front wing sizes are available and which one is right for me?

The S1 Alloy Foil Kit is available in front wing sizes of 1250, 1550, 1850 and 2450 cm². Smaller wings are lighter and react faster, while larger wings offer more lift at low speeds and an easier start. The choice depends on your body weight, your skill level and the respective wind and wave conditions. We are happy to advise you personally on choosing the right size.

What is included in the delivery of the S1 Alloy Foil Kit?

The kit includes the S1 front wing, a 72 cm aluminum mast (with top plate and bottom bracket), a 75 cm aluminum fuselage, the S1 300 stabilizer (tail wing), all assembly materials including screws, nylon washers, T30 and T40 Torx tools, Teflon grease, as well as a padded kit bag with a protective cover for the front wing.

Can I also use the S1 Foil Kit for wing foiling and wave riding?

Yes, the S1 Kit is a particularly versatile learning platform and covers all foil disciplines – from wing foiling to prone surf foiling, SUP foiling, kite foiling and foiling behind a boat. The low take-off behavior and high stability make getting started in any of these disciplines significantly easier.

How do I properly care for and maintain my Armstrong S1 Foil?

Rinse the foil with fresh water after every session and let it dry before storing it in the kit bag. The screw connections should be regularly greased with the included Teflon grease and checked for a tight fit. Check screws and moving parts before every session to detect wear early.

What makes the Armstrong A+ System special?

Armstrong's proprietary A+ System is the connection between the mast, fuselage and wings. It offers industry-leading stiffness, high durability and full modularity, so that you can later replace or upgrade individual components without having to replace the entire system. This way, the S1 Kit grows with your skills.

Is the S1 Alloy Foil Kit also suitable for very light wind?

Yes, thanks to the high lift at low speeds and the wide usable speed range, the S1 Kit is an excellent choice for light wind days. Larger front wings such as the 2450 cm² help to take off safely even in little wind or with a very light wing setup and glide for a long time.

What distinguishes the S1 Alloy Kit from more expensive carbon foils?

The S1 Alloy Kit uses an aluminum mast and aluminum fuselage instead of a carbon construction. This makes it significantly more affordable and is aimed at beginners without having to do without the proven Armstrong A+ System and the same geometry of the S1 front wings. Anyone who wants to upgrade later can flexibly replace individual components in the A+ System.
