FAQ
FAQ
What is the Chinook Tendon Replacement?
The Chinook Tendon Replacement is an original urethane replacement tendon joint for Chinook mast base systems. It replaces the worn or damaged rope joint in your Chinook Tendon Base and restores the secure connection between the mast and the board.
Which mast bases is the Chinook Tendon compatible with?
The standard Tendon fits all Chinook Tendon Bases (1-Bolt and 2-Bolt, US and Euro pin) and is also compatible with most common Tendon Bases from other manufacturers on the market. This makes it the reliable choice as a universal replacement part.
What are the dimensions of the Chinook Tendon Replacement?
The standard version has a length of 5.25 cm (2 1/16 inches), a diameter of 20 mm (13/16 inches), and holes with a diameter of 4 mm and a center-to-center distance of 8 mm. This means it exactly matches the original Chinook dimensions.
Is mounting hardware included?
No, the package contains only the urethane Tendon joint. Screws or other mounting hardware are not included and can be ordered separately if required.
How can I tell if the Tendon needs to be replaced?
If your mast base has play, the mast tilts to the side unusually easily, or visible cracks, deformations, or brittleness are noticeable on the urethane component, the Tendon should be replaced promptly to ensure safety and control on the water.
For which applications is the Chinook Tendon suitable?
The standard Tendon is suitable for classic windsurfing on all common boards. For windsurf foiling or inflatable windsurf/SUP applications, Chinook offers a shorter ProFlex version with a height of 4.5 mm – the standard Tendon is not the first choice for this.
How do I properly care for the Tendon?
After contact with water, especially salt or brackish water, rinse the Tendon with fresh water and let it dry. Avoid prolonged UV exposure when not in use by storing the mast base protected – this keeps the urethane flexible for a long time.
