Description
While many downwind SUP shapes on the market are similarly designed, we decided to take a different approach with our Downwind S-TEC. We believe that the extremely chamfered or completely rounded bottom and rail shapes create significant instability. Therefore, we opted for a very flat bottom where it matters most: directly in the standing area. Stability during launch is the primary goal here. We only utilize the advantages of rounded and chamfered rail and bottom shapes where they are truly necessary. The front of the nose is rounded to allow for smooth and forgiving water contact, while the abruptly chamfered pin-tail can be slightly lowered to activate flight mode. We paid particular attention to the shape of the rails, keeping the highest point of the radius as high as possible to further improve stability. The deck features a slight concave in the standing area, which transitions into a slope towards the nose. This slope ensures that power is efficiently converted into forward motion during paddling and prevents the front foot from slipping forward during the crucial phase of the paddle stroke.
