FAQ
Who is the Duotone Ultra FreeWave SLS 2025 designed for?
The Ultra FreeWave SLS is aimed at advanced windsurfers looking for a single board for bump&jump, wave riding and freestyle who do not want to switch between three different shapes.
What distinguishes the Ultra FreeWave SLS from the standard Ultra FreeWave?
The difference lies exclusively in the construction: the SLS version uses FULL CUSTOM SLS technology with carbon and S-GLASS+, while the wood version comes with FULL CUSTOM WOOD. Depending on the size, the SLS variant is 300 to 700 grams lighter and spritzier directly in the wind.
In which sizes is the Ultra FreeWave SLS available?
The Ultra FreeWave SLS is available in 6 volumes of 74, 84, 94, 104, 112 and 119 liters. This means it is equally suitable for lighter riders in strong wind as well as heavier riders in lighter wind.
Can the Ultra FreeWave SLS be ridden with a single fin and a thruster setup?
Yes, the board is designed as a true convertible. With a tri-fin setup, it offers around 70 percent of the wave potential of a GRIP 3 in top and bottom turns, while with a single fin it feels livelier than its predecessor and, with a purebred freestyle fin, delivers around 70 percent of the freestyle potential of the SKATE.
How heavy is the Ultra FreeWave SLS?
The manufacturer's weight varies depending on the size between approximately 5.7 kg (74 liters) and 7.2 kg (119 liters). Compared to the predecessor in semi-custom technology, the SLS version is around 200 grams lighter and at the same time more stable.
What sail size is suitable for the Ultra FreeWave SLS?
The recommended maximum sail area ranges depending on the board size from 5.8 m² (74 liters, in-board) to 7.5 m² (119 liters, in+out-board). This means the board covers a wide wind range from strong wind to light wind.
Which fins are included?
Depending on the size and setup, the board is supplied with matching F_Wave or F_Ride power fins, with smaller sizes also including additional slot boxes for a tri-fin setup. In addition, Premium Strap 2.0 foot strap inserts are included.
How do you properly care for the board?
Rinse the board with fresh water after every session, avoid direct sunlight when storing it, and transport it in the appropriate ION Windsurf Boardbag Core to protect the finish and edges from damage.
