Description

When practicing our wonderful sport, boards can sometimes collide. Especially in the busy daily life of a center where many courses are held. For this reason, the VIPER HD is manufactured with a focus on durability using our ASA SANDWICH TECHNOLOGY, the strongest semi-custom technology available to date. We use a 0.8 mm thick ASA outer skin made of thermoplastic polymer, which covers the EPS-Epoxy-Glass sandwich core. The thermoformed ASA material is known for its exceptional impact and dent resistance. An additional wide reinforcement strip around the rails protects this most exposed area from mast impacts.

The VIPER HD is available in 3 different sizes, covering all student body weights:

  • Body weight <70kg >> VIPER HD 180
  • Body weight 65-95kg >> VIPER HD 210
  • Body weight >85kg >> VIPER HD 240

FAQ

FAQ

Who is the Duotone Viper HD suitable for?

The Viper HD is the classic beginner and training board and is aimed at anyone who wants to learn windsurfing – from beginners to advanced riders, as well as for use in surf schools, camps, and rental stations.

In what sizes is the Viper HD available and which size is right for me?

The board is offered in three volumes: VIPER HD 180 for a body weight under 70 kg, VIPER HD 210 for 65–95 kg, and VIPER HD 240 for over 85 kg. This way, you can find the right size for every student and rider weight.

What does the ASA Sandwich Technology mean for the Viper HD?

The ASA Sandwich Technology is Duotone's most robust semi-custom construction: A 0.8 mm thick ASA outer skin made of thermoplastic polymer encloses the EPS-epoxy-glass sandwich core. This makes the board extremely resistant to impacts, dents, and UV rays – ideal for the demanding everyday use in centers.

How stable and beginner-friendly is the Viper HD when hoisting the sail?

The wide outline, voluminous rails in the bow and midsection, and the parallel shape with an extended waterline ensure very high roll stability. This makes hoisting the sail and standing up on the board easier – even in light wind.

What fins and fin system does the Viper HD have?

The board is equipped with a 34 cm long P-Compound fin in the Powerbox system and a retractable Allgaier daggerboard. The fin can be mounted tool-free using the Quick-Lock system – very practical for schools and rental operations.

Is the Viper HD also suitable for light wind and first planing experiences?

Yes, the rocker line with a longer flat section in the middle, the V-concave in the front underwater hull, and the harmonious rocker towards the tail enable a smooth transition into planing without jerky forces – perfect for the first planing attempts.

How comfortable and non-slip is the deck of the Viper HD?

The deck is 70% covered with a thick, robust EVA pad. This protects against pressure marks, offers a secure stance, and makes getting on and standing up on the board comfortable – even in the initial phase.

Is the Duotone Viper HD purely a school board or can you also use it for recreational windsurfing?

The Viper HD is primarily designed for learning comfort, stability, and durability, but is equally suitable for relaxed recreational windsurfing on inland waters, on the North and Baltic Seas, or on vacation – anywhere an easy-to-ride, robust board is needed.
