FAQ
What is the K4 Fins Dugong Weed particularly well suited for?
The K4 Fins Dugong Weed is an anti-weed fin specially developed for areas with seagrass or algae growth. Its large rake angle of around 39 to 44 degrees ensures that significantly fewer plants get caught in the fin, and it is ideal for shallow spots such as the Baltic Sea.
For which applications can I use the Dugong Weed?
It is highly versatile and is suitable for both wave setups as well as freestyle and freeride setups. Its dynamic, lively performance provides good drive, controlled grip, and pleasant feedback in turns.
Which sizes and boxes are available?
The Dugong Rear is available in lengths of 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, and 20 cm, while the Dugong Front is available in 9 to 12 cm. Depending on the size, US, Slot Box, Power Box, and Tuttle boxes are available, making it compatible with common fin boxes.
What should I consider when choosing the size?
For lengths up to 16 to 17 cm, K4 recommends choosing the fins in the same size as your usual setup. For fins from 18 to 19 cm, tester Steffi Wahl recommends going 1 to 2 cm smaller, as the large rake shifts the fin further back.
What material is the Dugong Weed made of?
The Dugong is made from the exceptionally stiff Super-Stiff (SS) material. This material provides enough flex to glide through the water with minimal resistance while remaining direct and lively underfoot.
Where was the K4 Fins Dugong Weed developed?
The prototypes were developed in close collaboration with Steffi Wahl and her test riders in the Baltic Sea, so under the exact seagrass conditions for which the fin was designed. The name and the Dugong logo also come from this community.
How do I properly care for and transport the fin?
Rinse the fin with fresh water after every session to remove salt and plant residue, and let it dry. For transport, a fin bag or padded board bag is recommended so that the material is not damaged by impacts.
