FAQ
Who is the KT Atlas Downwind Glide Set FW960/BW170 suitable for?
The set is aimed at riders looking for maximum efficiency, early lift and particularly long glide distances when downwind foiling. It works equally well for downwind SUP, wing foiling in moderate wind and prone foiling, and appeals to both experienced foilers and ambitious beginners with foiling experience.
What is included in the set?
The set is supplied with the FW960 front wing, BW170 back wing, F63 fuselage and M77C carbon mast. It comes in a perfectly fitted protective bag, with an optional travel bag also available.
What rider weight is the FW960 front wing recommended for?
KT recommends choosing Atlas wings approximately 10 to 20 percent smaller than those from other manufacturers, as the front wing generates a lot of lift thanks to its pronounced camber profile and early lift capability. The FW960 is therefore suitable for lighter riders and for medium-weight riders who want maximum glide efficiency in light wind.
In what speed and wind range does the set work?
According to KT, the FW960 is designed for speeds of approximately 7 to 30 mph. This covers light to moderate wind and enables comfortable riding as well as efficient pumping at low speeds.
Is the mast height adjustable and compatible with other Atlas components?
The M77C carbon mast is part of the modular KT system. You can easily mount other Atlas front wings, back wings and fuselages, allowing you to flexibly adapt the setup for wing foiling, SUP downwind or surfing.
How do I properly care for and transport the Atlas Downwind Glide Set?
After use, you should rinse the components with fresh water and let them dry before packing them in the included protective bag. The 316 stainless steel hardware is robust and durable, but it is still worth checking that the screws and Torx fittings are securely tightened regularly.
What advantages does the carbon construction offer compared to aluminium foils?
The stiff carbon construction of the Atlas series ensures maximum power transfer, lower water resistance and a more direct response. This allows you to reach cruising speed faster and maintain full control even in turns and at higher speeds.
