FAQ
Who is the Neilpryde ATEC 27 boom suitable for?
The ATEC 27 was developed by Neilpryde for windsurfers of all skill levels - from advanced beginners to experienced freeriders. If you are looking for a versatile, robust and comfortable aluminum boom with a balanced 27 mm grip, you have come to the right place.
What are the dimensions and diameter of the ATEC 27?
The ATEC 27 is available in adjustable lengths of 140-190 cm and 160-210 cm, each with an ergonomic 27 mm grip diameter. This makes it equally suitable for small to medium-sized wave and freeride sails as well as larger all-round and light freerace sails.
Will the ATEC 27 fit my mast (RDM or SDM)?
Yes, the ATEC 27 comes standard with a removable, click-in RDM/SDM V-Shape shim. This allows you to use it flexibly on standard SDM and RDM masts - the V-shape of the mast mount reliably compensates for minor diameter variations.
What disciplines and conditions is the boom designed for?
Neilpryde positions the ATEC 27 as an all-round and freeride boom for wave, bump & jump, freeride and light freerace. This makes it equally at home on flat water, chop and small to medium waves - in medium to strong winds.
What are the advantages of the 27 mm grip compared to 25 or 28 mm?
Compared to the ATEC 25 with 25 mm, the ATEC 27 offers a slightly thicker, stiffer grip for a more solid feel and greater control. Compared to the ATEC 28 with 28 mm, it remains more compact and lighter - ideal if you prefer a balanced middle ground between slim and bulky.
What Neilpryde technologies are incorporated in the ATEC 27?
You get the VT joint, the V-shaped mast mount with two contact points, an optimized sheet horn block angle, an integrated outrigger lever and the trim pin lever system with double insert. The ATEC 27 shares many of these components with Neilpryde's top booms.
Does the ATEC 27 have integrated sheet horn rollers?
No, the ATEC 27 does not have integrated, adjustable under-deck rollers. The sheet horn is trimmed classically via lines and blocks - this keeps the boom light, robust and attractive in terms of value for money.
How do I properly care for my ATEC 27?
Rinse the aluminum boom with fresh water after every session, particularly the mast cup and levers, to remove salt and sand. Store it dry and protect it from prolonged exposure to sunlight to ensure that the material and components continue to function reliably in the long term.
