North RDM Carbon Extension Mast Base

FAQ

What is the North RDM Carbon Extension used for?

The North RDM Carbon Extension is used as an extension between the mast and the sail to achieve the ideal centerboard length for your windsurfing setup – especially with larger sails.

Is the extension compatible with RDM masts?

Yes, the extension is specifically designed for RDM (Reduced Diameter) masts and is therefore compatible with most modern windsurfing rigs.

What material is the North RDM Carbon Extension made of?

The mast extension is made of carbon and is manufactured exclusively for North Sails windsurfing in the EU – for low weight and high stiffness.

How is the extension attached to the mast?

The extension is inserted into the integrated mast foot at the bottom of the mast and secured with the clamping screw – matching the centerboard slot of North sails.

For which applications is the Carbon Extension suitable?

The Carbon Extension is suitable for all windsurfing disciplines where an additional centerboard extension is required – for example, in wave, freestyle, or freeride sailing with an RDM mast.

How do I properly care for the carbon mast extension?

After use in salt water, rinse the extension with fresh water, let it dry, and store it in a dry place protected from UV radiation – this keeps the carbon protected in the long term.

Is the North RDM Carbon Extension also suitable for SDM masts?

The extension is primarily designed for RDM masts. For SDM masts, we recommend using a suitable SDM version from the North range.
