FAQ
For which water sports is the ProLimit Shield Steamer Free-X 6/4 suitable?
The Shield Steamer was specifically developed for foiling sessions – namely wing foiling, SUP foiling, kite foiling and foil surfing. The Shield Zones provide targeted protection for the body and suit against impact and contact with the foil mast and board.
What is the thickness of the neoprene suit?
The Shield Steamer is designed as a 6/4 model: 6 mm NaturePrene2® in the torso area for warmth and 4 mm in the arms and legs for greater freedom of movement when paddling and pumping.
What does the designation Steamer Free-X 6/4 mean?
Steamer stands for a full-length, year-round neoprene suit. Free-X refers to the YKK Free-X front zipper, which allows for particularly easy entry. The numbers 6/4 stand for the neoprene thickness in millimeters.
How warm does the suit keep you, and for which water temperatures is it intended?
Thanks to 6 mm around the body, 4 mm on the arms and legs, Airflex 550+ outer lining and Zodiac Jacquard Fleece on the inside, the Shield is designed for cool water in spring, autumn and winter in the North and Baltic Seas.
What protection features does the Shield Steamer offer?
The Shield Zones protect the right shoulder, armpits, knees and shin: Fluid Neoprene and memory padding on the shoulder, abrasion-resistant lining under the armpits, KED knee pads and an armored shin guard against cuts and impacts.
Is the suit neoprene-free and sustainable?
Yes. The Shield Steamer is completely neoprene-free and made from FSC-certified NaturePrene2®, a limestone-based alternative to classic petroleum-based neoprene.
What type of seams does ProLimit use in the Shield?
The seams are triple-glued and sealed with liquid rubber. This makes them waterproof, robust and highly elastic.
How do you properly care for the Shield Steamer?
After every session, rinse it out with fresh water inside and out, let it dry in the shade away from direct sunlight and store it flat – not hanging on a hanger. This ensures that NaturePrene2®, the fleece lining and the Shield Zones retain their function for a long time.
