What is the Windboss wind meter and what is it used for?

The Windboss is a handy thermal anemometer wind meter with four horizontally rotating wind turbine cups that measures wind speed independently of direction and with high accuracy. It is ideal for windsurfing, kitesurfing, wing foiling, sailing, kite flying, and all other activities where reliable wind data is crucial.

Which units of wind speed does the Windboss display?

The Windboss displays wind speed in Beaufort, knots, m/s, km/h, and mph. This allows you to read the appropriate unit directly depending on the application—whether sailing, surfing, or weather observation—without having to convert it.

What is the measuring range of the wind meter?

The Windboss measures wind speeds from 0.7 to 30 m/s. This means it responds even in very light winds while reliably covering all wind strengths relevant to water sports, including high-wind conditions.

Does the wind meter also measure temperature?

Yes, the Windboss features an integrated thermometer with a measuring range of -20 °C to +50 °C (switchable between °C and °F). The accuracy is ± 1.5 °C, so you can keep track of wind and temperature readings with just one device.

What functions does the Windboss display offer?

The illuminated 3-digit LCD display shows the current wind speed as well as the maximum and average wind speeds. An automatic shut-off after 15 minutes of inactivity conserves the batteries, which have a battery life of at least 60 hours with 3 x 1.5 V AAA batteries (included).

Is the Windboss waterproof and suitable for use on the beach?

The Windboss is splash-proof according to IP54 and is therefore perfectly equipped for use on the beach, on the water, and in light rain. A tripod thread on the underside also allows it to be mounted on a tripod for hands-free measurements.

What is included with the Windboss?

The package includes the Windboss wind meter, a suitable protective pouch, and the 3 required AAA batteries. This means the device is ready to use immediately and can be transported safely—for example, in a board bag or backpack.

How big and heavy is the Windboss?

At approximately 14.5 cm high, 5.6 cm wide, and 4.5 cm deep, the Windboss is particularly handy and fits into any jacket or trouser pocket. Weighing around 114 g, it is a lightweight device that you can always take with you when surfing, kiting, or sailing.
